With their roots deep in rich volcanic soil, the tree ferns of the Atherton Tablelands thrive on the kind of tropical rainfall that keeps innumerable waterfalls flowing all year. I just love water – the greenery it brings, the wondrous life. To me it’s like God’s love pouring down. Heritage listed Millaa Millaa Falls cascade perfectly down 18 metres of volcanic basalt to a pristine pool below, where you can enjoy a refreshing swim. These falls are among the most photographed in all of Australia, so you may have to take your photos in between the busloads of tourists who arrive regularly. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a platypus!
